Air Transat opens Montreal to Agadir nonstop in June 2026: what travelers need to know
Air Transat will launch the first direct flight between Montreal and Agadir on 12 June 2026, adding a new North American gateway to Morocco’s Atlantic coast. The weekly service will run every Friday with an Airbus A321LR, the carrier and Morocco’s National Tourist Office (ONMT) confirmed.
The route is a clear play for the Canadian market, which Morocco has targeted after steady gains in arrivals. By the end of August 2025, Canada sent 174,000 visitors, up 29% year-on-year, according to ONMT. A nonstop to Agadir is designed to spread that growth beyond classic hubs and smooth out seasonal swings. If it puts the city on your radar, our Agadir Morocco travel guide covers what to do when you land.
For travelers, the change is practical. Reaching Agadir Bay, Taghazout, Imsouane, Taroudant or the Anti-Atlas no longer requires a European connection or an internal hop from Casablanca. The A321LR, a long-range narrow-body, promises quieter cabins and lower fuel burn than older jets on transatlantic runs.
The announcement extends a quick build-out of Morocco’s North American links. Air Transat returned to Montreal-Marrakech in 2024. United Airlines opened New York-Marrakech in October 2024, and Delta Air Lines added Atlanta-Marrakech in 2025. Together, they give visitors more ways to pair the coast with the red city or to plan one-way itineraries.
Agadir’s draw is simple: long beaches, reliable weather, and easy road access to surf towns and desert foothills. With the new flight landing in the heart of the Souss-Massa region, hoteliers and guides expect stronger shoulder-season demand and more even distribution of tourist spend.
Air Transat, founded in Montreal in 1986 and named Skytrax “Best Leisure Airline in the World” for three consecutive years, will publish sales closer to launch. With only one rotation a week, early booking for summer 2026 is advised.
